Oklahoma’s thin frontcourt just got thinner as an OU athletic department spokesman has confirmed junior college power forward signee Edson Avila is not going to enroll at OU.
Avila was a late signee for the Sooners but had not practiced with the team this summer and was listed on the team’s roster prior to OU’s trip to Europe.
OU went 4-1 on its five-game trip overseas.
Avila, from Kansas, averaged 11 points and six rebounds per game last season. The good news, though, is fellow juco power forward Keshaun Hamilton is set to play for the Sooners.
Hamilton also has not practiced with the team, but he is listed on the roster and posted on Facebook this weekend he is going to still be a Sooner.
