They’ll take on No. 4 seed Marist at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday at Marita Hynes Field in the Norman Regional.
Nos. 2 Fordham and 3 Arkansas will also face off in the three-day event, with the winners and losers set to play Saturday in a double elimination format.
The victor of the pod will face the winner of the College Station Regional, featuring No. 16 national seed Texas A&M, along with Penn, Arizona and Baylor.
That would obviously be in Norman if the Sooners advance because they’ve earned home field throughout the tournament with their No. 1 seed.
OU has been the consensus No. 1 team in the land for the past nine weeks and ranked atop each of the seven RPI polls over that same time period.
It has never faced Marist but is 4-0 all-time against foes from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
The Sooners are 2-0 all-time against Fordham and possess a dominant 16-2 all-time mark against Arkansas.
