Head coach Lon Kruger has taken his NCAA record fifth team to the Tournament, and the Sooners are dancing once again after a three-year hiatus.
As a No. 10 seed, they’ll take on No. 7 San Diego State in the Midwest first round hosted Friday in Philadelphia, Penn.
There wasn’t 100 percent certainty OU would earn a spot in the tourney after dropping its final two games of the season, including a howler at TCU, but it was still a virtual lock.
Now, it’s official OU has recorded its program’s 27th Tournament appearance and first of the decade.
No. 2 Georgetown and 15-seed Florida Gulf Coast will square off in the other matchup of the four-team pod, and the winners will meet Sunday.
Kansas is the top seed in the region, with No. 3 Florida and No. 4 Michigan rounding out the top four, respectively.
