Signee: Cody Thomas (QB—6'5"/220)—Will he choose football or will he choose baseball? That is the question and a key one when concerning the future at quarterback for OU. If the Colleyville Heritage HS product does choose the pigskin, co-offensive coordinator Josh Heupel and the offensive staff are undoubtedly getting a prototypical pocket passer. With his tall frame, Thomas has the ability to see over defenses and find holes to pick them apart. He's also got the arm to do so. Given the fact that he's also a star baseball player, that shouldn't be a surprise for the No. 8 signal caller coming out of this class.
What he's coming into at the position:Thomas is certainly looking at a redshirt season with Blake Bell and Trevor Knight competing for the starting signal caller spot in 2013 and Kendal Thompson fighting his way into the mix. Drew Allen is expected to transfer, so that means there will be four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster if he enrolls at OU. Expect a solid scout team quarterback in Thomas' future and him maturity a lot before getting into a quarterback battle of his own down the road.
