Signing as a Sooner: Early signee No. 3

2013 OU JUCO DT signee Quincy Russell

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners hope to have a force in the middle with their second JUCO transfer early signature.

Signing Time: N/A (early signee)

Scout.com Ranking: Three-star

Signee: Quincy Russell (DT—6'4"/315)—This force in the middle defensively is another one of OU's JUCO early signees. Out of Trinity Valley, Russell originally chose Texas out of high school, but things didn't work out there and he had to go the JUCO route. He then chose the Sooners over Nebraska, and that's good because he has the ability to be a tremendous force at defensive tackle. Russell is a gap-plugger inside with a relentless motor.

What he's coming into at the position: He'll be expected to play right away and perhaps start. Here's the catch, however: Russell is yet to arrive on campus because he's taking care of some business (i.e. finishing classes). If he makes it in, Russell will likely be the starter opposite Jordan Phillips, with Jordan Wade, Marquis Anderson, Torrea Peterson and others fighting for playing time.
