Sooners set for big first junior day

OU defensive end prospect Deondre Clark

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners canceled their first junior day a couple weeks back to focus on 2013 recruiting but that hasn't slowed down the list of prospects they're bringing in for the official first welcoming for 2014 players.

OU is set to bring in four current four-star prospects, including Mount Pleasant (Texas) wide receiver K.D. Cannon, Douglass defensive end Deondre Clark, David W. Carter (Texas) linebacker Cameron Hampton and Brenham (Texas) cornerback Darrion Johnson.

Four other current three-stars are set to attend this weekend, including Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen, Skyline (Texas) offensive tackle Tyus Barrett, Brenham offensive tackle Austin Schlottmann and Arlington Martin (Texas) defensive end Myles Garrett.

And the list certainly doesn't stop there.

Offensively, Broken Arrow quarterback Coleman Key, David W. Carter (Texas) running back Corey Avery, Longview (Texas) wide receiver Dorian Leonard, All Saints Episcopal School (Texas) wide receiver Kendall Adams and Derby (Kansas) tight end DeAndre Goolsby are all slated to be in attendance.

On the other side of the ball, a host more is readying to come.

That includes Longview (Texas) defensive tackle Zaycoven Henderson, Lancaster (Texas) safety/linebacker Vontre McQuinnie, South Oak Cliff (Texas) cornerback Jyaz Jones, Jenks safety Steven Parker, Longview safety Stephan Maxey and Longview safety Travin Howard.

So, there's certainly a good weekend on tap for potential future Sooners just before Signing Day for the immediate class at hand.

Stay tuned for all the information on how visits went for these prospects.
