The Bears will head west to San Diego to face UCLA in the Bridgeport Education Holiday Bowl on December 27th.
Head west young man, or
Baylor
Bears. After securing their 7th win of the season against
Oklahoma State
, bowl prognostications for Baylor were all over the map, literally. Some said Houston, or Shreveport or even San Antonio would be the destination for the holidays. However, on Sunday, Baylor accepted an invitation to play in the 2012 Bridgeport Education Holiday Bowl. The Bears will play at Qualcomm Field, home of the San Diego Chargers on December 27th.
Facing off against the Bears will be the
UCLA
Bruins, the second place team from the UCLA. The Bruins (9-4, 6-3) lost their last two games of the year against
Stanford
, with the second being in the Pac-12 Championship game. While the Bruins are on a 2-game losing streak, the Baylor Bears (7-5, 4-5) won four of their last five games, including the last three games of the season.
"It is very exciting to be going to a bowl game for the third straight year and the Holiday Bowl is widely recognized as one of the best in terms of hospitality, student-athlete experience and atmosphere," said Ian McCaw, Baylor's Director of Athletics. "We need Baylor Nation to rise up and support the Bears by contacting the athletic ticket office to make arrangements to purchase tickets and come to San Diego to be a part of this special event. This is Baylor's first out-of-state bowl game in 20 years, so it is imperative that we have a great turnout to cheer on the Bears against UCLA."
The Bears and Bruins will both be making their debuts in the Holiday Bowl and against each other. The game will be televised on ESPN at 8:45 p.m. CST.
