Oklahoma simply made one more play than West Virginia, according to coach Dana Holgorsen, who perhaps provided the understatement of the night, calling WVU's 50-49 setback to the Sooners "a tough loss."

Co-defensive coordinator Joe DeForest pointed to the defense's struggles on third downs -- OU converted on 9 of 15 third down plays -- as the difference in the outcome, but praised his players for their effort.

Expect to see Tavon Austin continue to get reps as a running back after his school-record for rushing productivity against the Sooners, according to offensive coordinator and receivers coach Shannon Dawson.

Austin himself said the idea to move to running back was a collaborative one. While he had success on the ground against OU, the senior said he was glad he had spent his college career at slot receiver.

The running of Austin started to open some things up for quarterback Geno Smith and the passing game. The Sooners had only allowed three touchdown passes all season before Saturday's game; WVU's Stedman Bailey had four TD catches himself in this game.
