TCU pushed their record to 2-0 when they took on Centenary at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. With the win, Trent Johnson became the first TCU coach since Billy Tubbs to start his career 2-0.

Trent Johnson became the first coach of the TCU basketball program to start his career in Fort Worth 2-0 since Billy Tubbs in 1994.

TCU grabbed a 75-47 victory over Centenary at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Offensively, the Frogs were in sync shooting 56 percent from the floor while holding Centenary to just 30 percent shooting.

TCU was led in scoring by Adrick McKinney who finished with 16 points, a career high, on 7-8 shooting from the floor.

“With Adrick if he keeps it simple, we’re going to be fine,” sophomore point guard Kyan Anderson said. “He’s definitely going to help bringing a strong presence down low.”

Joining McKinney in double figures were Connell Crossland (12), Jarvis Ray (11) and Kyan Anderson (10). Crossland also finished with 10 rebounds, his first career double-double.

Sophomore point guard Kyan Anderson said that he felt the team was more in sync than the first game.

“Going into the game, we were more focused,” Anderson said. “We decided to lock down on D, and we decided to take care of this one early.”

“Nate [Butler] was probably the most important player of the game,” head coach Trent Johnson said. “You look at the box score and he was 2-4, 4 points, but he had 3 assists that led to baskets, had no turnovers, and played good defensively.”

“When he’s out, he’s always encouraging his teammates,” Johnson continued. “He's played like that in practice too.”

Devonta Abron also improved in game two. Abron finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

On Thursday, TCU will take on SMU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. The game will feature two first year head coaches in Trent Johnson and SMU’s Larry Brown.

Thursday’s game will tip-off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
