2. Special teams may finally be a strength
It's been awhile since we've been able to say this, but OU's special teams might actually not be a liability this time around. Punter Tress Way will be among the league's tops, as he averaged 42 yards per punt last year with 34 of his 63 downed inside the 20. He blasted a long of 67 yards last year as well in the Insight Bowl against Iowa, and he's become even more consistent in the offseason. Not only that, but place kicker Michael Hunnicutt is back and improved, too. He converted 21-of-24 attempts, including all four outside of 40 yards, in 2011. One of those was a 53-yarder against Kansas State. The coverage teams should be strong as well with captain Trey Millard, among others, back aboard that unit. So, look forward to not sighing every time it's a field goal, punt or kickoff.
