Cardinals take Jamell Fleming

Former OU cornerback Jamell Fleming

Corner Jamell Fleming became the third and final Sooner to be selected on the second day of the draft, getting his named called by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round, 80th overall.

Fleming joins wide receiver Ryan Broyles and offensive lineman Donald Stephenson as former OU players to be selected Friday.

In his final season at OU, he was an All-Big 12 First Team selection by both the AP and coaches after finishing second on the team with 10 pass break ups, while also recording two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and an interception at the boundary position.

The 5-foot-11, 206-pounder started all 11 games and starred when he stripped and returned a fumble 56 yards to the house against Texas.

He finished fifth on the team with 60 tackles.

Fleming started the final 24 games of his career and played in 51 total throughout his four seasons following a redshirt year in 2007.
