Signing as a Sooner: No. 3

TE Sam Grant has signed with the Sooners.

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners got a surprise commit the other day, and he's the third to sign.

Signing Time: 7:23 a.m.

Scout.com Ranking: Three-star

Sam Grant (TE—6'6"/235): He was one of the biggest shockers in this class after committing to tight ends/tackles coach Bruce Kittle and the Sooners just a couple days ago. Most people pegged him as a Michigan Wolverine lean, but that proved not to be the case. Now, Grant arrives as a good blocking tight end and the 45th ranked one in the country. He had an astounding 88 pancake blocks during his junior season, so bulk him up some more and OU will be able to use him that way throughout his career.

What he's coming into at the position: Grant joins three other newcomer tight ends to the Sooner program. The others, JUCO transfer Brannon Green and incoming freshmen Laith Harlow and Taylor McNamara, will all compete with him for the starting spot. So, he's got his work cut out for him.
