Sanchez Reevaluates, Switches to OU

2012 defensive back commit Zack Sanchez

KELLER, Texas — After the coaching changes, the Sooners have recovered and they're finishing strong now, as defensive back Zack Sanchez becomes the second and latest Sooner commit of the day.

Sanchez, a safety/cornerback out of Central High School in Keller, Texas, checked out the Sooner facilities over the weekend, met up with players and coaches and decided it was the spot for him.

So, he made it official just roughly 38 hours before the start of Signing Day.

Sanchez was previously committed to Baylor and visited the program that got in on him first just 10 days ago.

But the last visit left a lasting impact and ultimately had the final say as dead period rolled around just a few days before the biggest recruiting day of the year.

The 6-foot-, 165-pounder who runs a speedy 4.45 40-yard dash, becomes the fourth defensive back in the 2012 class to give a verbal, but previous cornerbacks De'Vante Harris and Kevin Peterson de-committed, making him just the second DB commit.

Cornerback Kass Everett signed his letter of intent with the Sooners back on Dec. 21, 2011.

A couple other secondary prospects are still on the table, including cornerback Gary Simon, high school teammate (Gibbs HS) of recent JUCO offensive tackle commit Will Latu, and Dominguez HS (Compton, Calif.) cornerback Brandon Beaver.
