NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma offensive tackle Jarvis Jones could be out six months after undergoing surgery today to repair a torn right patella tendon. Jones suffered the injury in Friday’s practice.

The senior from Richmond, Texas, was atop the Sooners’ depth chart at right tackle as spring drills began. He played in all 13 games last season with four starts. Three of those four starts came over the final three games of the season when he played primarily left tackle.

OU head coach Bob Stoops said the team was not in full contact drills when the injury occurred.

“We were in a team period and it just buckled on him,” said Stoops, who said Jones could be back in late September or early October.

The injury will increase offensive lineman Daryl Williams' role the rest of the spring and into fall camp and the season.
