This is starting to look a whole lot like last season, where the Sooners (12-16, 4-10 Big 12) were near .500 seven or eight games into the conference season and didn’t win another one the rest of the way. They are on a seven-game losing streak and now run into Texas Tech, who is similarly bad. The Red Raiders have lost six of seven after going on a three-game winning streak. It’s a fight to stay out of 11th place in the Big 12 conference standings. Should the Sooners win, they will finish no worse than 10th due to the tiebreaker scenario.
--OU leads the all-time series 30-18 and trails by just one in Lubbock (10-11). OU has won eight of the past 11, including an 83-74 decision earlier in the season in Norman.
--Despite winning 11 of their 15 games at home, the Sooners are still searching for their second win on the road, as they are only 1-12 away from Lloyd Noble Center.
--Starters have managed 87 percent of OU’s points in the last 11 outings.
--Forward Andrew Fitzgerald leads the team with 13.4 points per game and is second with 5.1 rebounds per contest.
--Guard Cade Davis leads the squad in rebounding with 5.1 boards per contest.
Looking at the Red Raiders:
--They are unranked in all the polls and tied with the Sooners for 10th right now in the Big 12 with their 12-17 overall record and 4-10 conference mark.
--Tech ranks seventh in the conference with their 69.6 points per game.
--They are dead last in the league in defense, allowing opponents to shoot 47.7 percent against them.
--Point guard John Roberson leads all Tech scorers with 14.1 points per game and a leads the Red Raiders with 4.3 assists per outing.
--Head coach Pat Knight is in his fourth year with a 49-59 overall record.

Sooners Illustrated’s Take:
There’s no major reason to think the Sooners can win this one. They have struggled on the road all season, picking up just one victory away from Norman. On the other hand, Texas Tech is just plain bad. For some reason, I think the Sooners can pull off a victory on the road on this night, allowing them to secure the 10th spot in the conference. With a Bedlam victory Saturday, then, OU can move into ninth.
