Signing as a Sooner: No. 7

OU defensive tackle signee Jordan Phillips

NORMAN, Okla. -- After roughly a 45-minute wait, another fax came in on the defensive side of the ball, and it was a huge one, this time from Circle High School in Towanda, Kan.

Signing Time: 8:19 a.m.

Scout.com Ranking: Five-star

Jordan Phillips (DT-6'6"/290): He recently received the five-star bump and is one of the best players in this entire 2011 national recruiting class defensively. Phillips, listed No. 6 nationally, is an absolute beast with great size and strength. He had a great showing in the Under Armour All-American Bowl, warranting that jump from a four-star to five-star. And he's a multi-sport athlete who's also a solid basketball player.

What he's coming into at the position: Again, the starters are nearly set at defensive tackle, with two coming from a pod of three players. But he can certainly compete with the best of them and has a great work ethic. However, whether or not it will happen, a redshirt season would benefit him by perfecting his technique and moves.
