Signing as a Sooner: No. 2

Defensive end Nathan Hughes

NORMAN, Okla. -- Just four minutes after wide receiver Trey Metoyer became the first new Sooner on Signing Day, defensive end Nathan Hughes became the second.

Signing Time: 7:05 a.m.

Scout.com Ranking: Five-star

Nathan Hughes (DE--6'5"/257): He is a powerful, explosive player at the end position with great ability to get to the quarterback. Hughes arrives in a similar fashion as Metoyer, one of the most prized recruits in the country. He's the No. 5 defensive end nationally and an Under Armour All-American.

What he's coming into at the position: A solid commitment since early May of last year, Hughes enters as a crucial recruit following the graduation of star defensive end Jeremy Beal. The Sooners, though, do return a number of guys at the position, including Frank Alexander, Ronnell Lewis and David King. So, there's a lot of competition at the position for him, but also some experience to help pull him along.
