NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma safety Jonathan Nelson has accepted an invitation to play in the 86th East-West Shrine Game®. The Game will be held Jan. 22, 2011, at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla., kicking off at 3 p.m., CST.

Nelson finished the 2011 season as OU’s second-leading tackler with 102, the fifth-best one-season total ever by an Sooner defensive back.

He also had two interceptions and two forced fumbles.

It was a breakout season for Nelson, who started all 14 games.

His tackle total nearly doubled the number he accumulated through his first three seasons combined.

The Sooners finished the season with a 12-2 mark and won both the Big 12 Championship and the Fiesta Bowl.
